How to fix Battlefield 4 slow download

I have finally discovered a fix to the slow download problem on Origin.  All you need to do is:

  • Exit the Origin Client
  • Save a text file on your desktop with the following inside.

[connection]
EnvironmentName=production

[Feature]
CdnOverride=akamai

  • Save the file as EACore.ini
  • Reload the Origin Client
A message will appear about loading the file, click yes.

The Origin client loads up in R&D Mode. Ta Da Fixed. Now downloading at my max speed.

Note:
To exit R&D Mode simply delete the eacore.ini from where origin is installed and reload the Origin.

Hope this helps and saves hours of trying other useless fixes, as usual the problem is EA.

I find it silly that this is working, silly EA. Thanks, went from 48kb/s to 2,7mb/s.

scarily works - R&D mode confirmed text in top right. downloads like it probably should.

hope this helps, remember to run virus scan before and after using this code :)

I would love to know why you think this has anything to do with virus.

Basically all it does is launch research and development mode. aka a likely restricted version of the software that ea use to test.

It does other stuff like gives you detailed information about games you own but nothing top secret.

Most people wont run this because they think ea will ban them but they wont.

I only use it when downloading wont work, aka i get speeds of 5kbs instead of my normal max 180kbs -

Your welcome to spend weeks downloading or reading ea blame your isp when clearing this fix proves its an ea problem.
